A few words from the vocabulary used by Cypriots soldiers in the British army during WW2 as I remember them from
my grandfather

o kampos = camp
i tenta = tent
oi barrakkes= barracks
o kolonellos= colonel
o meitjos= major
o kkapte= captain
o sarjis= sergeant
o kopros (with soft k as in kopri) = corporal
i brega = Bren gun
i stega = Sten gun
i mashiga = machine gun
o apsentis = absent
o sentris = sentry
o eppis, oi eppies = MP, military policeman/policemen
